Elementary School Student & Parent Handbook Elementary School Manual Del Estudiante Y De Los Padres/Tutores Elementary School Manual Para Pais E Alunos IMPORTANT CORONAVIRUS INFORMATION Week of April 13th -17th Good Morning Veterans' Families and Students! It is now time to begin our first full week of remote learning. Last week, we had a very soft beginning as teachers worked out technical details, chose curriculum and made sure that they got in touch with their students. Over the last several weeks, we have had over 70 families pick up a chromebook on loan from the district and students have been connecting with their teachers through email, video, and live Zoom and Google Meetings! I am so proud of everyone that has shown us that they value their learning and are continuing to work hard at their schoolwork. By 9:00AM, all students/parents will receive the weekly schedule of learning from their teacher(s). Ideally, it should work out to about 3 hours of schoolwork per day. Some of it teacher led but some of it is work that students should do on their own independently. Should your child have questions, please try to assist them, but if that isn't working than I urge you to reach out to your child(ren)s teacher via email or through class dojo. please get your child on a daily schedule just like we do here at school. You don't have to start at 9:00, it can be whatever time is convenient for you as I know many parents are also working from home. Understand that this is all new for our families but also for our teachers. Many of them have gotten crash courses in technology over the last two weeks. Please do your best to work the technology this week. Let your child's teacher know any issues that you may be having but also a few compliments are nice too! At the end of the week, I will be reaching out to all families to find out where any possible glitches are. I can't tell you how amazed I have been with the work that the Veterans' School teachers have done. I consider myself a very lucky principal. If you need a chromebook, please let me know.
